Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego. On the tip of Pt. Loma, with a $B view.
Visited there in 2019, a guy I work with says his Dad is buried there--spectacular view--if I'm not mistaken there is a lighthouse near the end of it also
I love cemeteries an have visited the Graves of over 40 of my direct ancestors going all the way back to four of my 6th-gr-grandparents and all graves in between. I should pay more attention to Squire and Sarah Morgan Boone; I am descended of Daniel Boone's sister Mary, so the should be my ancestors also. I'll have to check into Mary's parents; she was a Boone, so Squire should be a grandfather at least.
As I stood a silent flag line just yesterday, I was facing this grave and it told a whole story that broke my heart. God bless this Momma and Daddy...
Back in the day (about 1971) we were out cruising in a car smoking reefer and stopped by a cemetary along SR 101. Found a gravestone of a woman who lived in 3 different centuries. Born in 1798 and died in 1901. Think of the things she lived to see.
Great-Great-Granddad, Colonel in the Confederate home guard near the Cape Fear River in Cumberland County NC. His 1830 house is still standing, and very much haunted according to the current owners whose family bought it from my family around 1900. Two, maybe three generations of my family were raised in the house prior to 1900, and with infant mortality the way it was back then, and at least two old men who died in there there’s no telling who’s doing the haunting.
I took this pic in the early 1990’s. The chimney is standing off from the house about six inches due to the earthquake that centered around Charleston SC to the south in the late 1800’s.
We visit cemeteries, old or famous. I don't have pictures here, but we have made special trips to see Jim Morrison's grave in Paris and Patsy Cline's in Winchester Virginia, just to name a few. I grew up in Maspeth Queens, Google map it, cemeteries everywhere. We played in them as kids, lots of green space for City kids. Pics of what I have here: Local Methodist Church cemetery
There are several Head Stones with unusual names in the this video. No back stories however.
I know a guy in New Zealand that spends many hours a month traveling and taking pictures of Head Stones.
