I know where to camp. But wife and I want to ride down to Beale St listen to some jazz eat some BBQ keep bike in at least ear shot any suggestions? good days bad days eves best places.
Beale street isnt all that large of an area and parking isnt overly tough...
You can park close to B.B. Kings Blues Club and directly across the street used to be a real good BBQ joint!
If your into guitars there is a large Fender building about a block (behind) B.B. Kings place!
Weekends are really busy but will have a better opportunity at a live band playing.
If your in Memphis and like the blues, you should head for the heart of the Delta Blues.
Clarksdale Mississippi isnt much more than an hour ride and you have some cool opportunity here as well.
Morgan Freeman owns a blues bar called Ground Zero which is across the street from the Blues Museum!
Muddy Waters Cabin, several Lucille guitars and much more!
Not a block from the Cross Roads is a small BBQ joint (Abes BBQ) that is cheap and GOOD!
Just a little town but it really seems like your stepping back in time!
Id check the schedule for Clarksdale..seems like every summer they have a bike rally / blues fest..
Good Luck and have a blast...been a while since Ive been able to cruise down to that area!
Wife and I where there in Sept. if I'm not mistaken someone told me that Wednesday night is bike night on Beal St. and you can park on Beale St. Don't miss the Rendezvous for BBQ.. It's right in the alley by Holiday Inn Select downtown.
The rendevous has the best bbq in town. If you really want to go all out call ahead a couple of days and pre order the bbq shrimp.(only take phone ahead orders on them). Gibson guitar factory is downtown, several clubs along Beale including BB Kings, Hard Rock, and several others. Park in a public place and you will be fine. If you get out east there is a large HD dealer: Bumpus HD and another popular BBQ place is Corky's. hth.
Just got back from Memphis. We found the best ribs at the Blues City Cafe across from BB Kings. There is a parking garage beside the Hampton Inn about a block off Beale. Only problem we had was with panhandlers. Talk to you like a good ole friend then wanted money.
