We caught the CatFerry from Portland to Yarmouth and even though it was expensive, it was a great trip. We spent about a week in Nova Scotia with 2 night on Brier Island - as far out into the Bay of Fundy and you can get. And Mikey is right. The water goes right out from under the boats even and they are sitting on dry ground. The fog rolls in and within minutes you can't see anything but then it rolls right back out. It is a very beautiful place. We went out on a whale watching boat into the bay of Fundy. The boat was about 45 feet long and one of the humpback whales we saw was longer than our boat. I loved all the little fishing villages.
