That's great advice there.

Front tires are good for 15k easy. I would plan on replacing the rear at 9,000? That sounds like it will be somewhere on your trip. You may have enough rubber to back home, but you don't want to ride on cords for very long. If you are lucky enough to find an indy shop that has Dunlops (or other tire that fits your Dyna), they are cheaper, quicker, and more eager to do the "walk-in" changes, in my experience. The guy that said do your 5k 100 miles before you go has it nailed. I learned after two dealer surprises. First time, the front wheel was on backwards after a 10k service. I found it when I checked the pressure (couldn't find the valve stem, it was on the other side!) on Saturday night prior to leaving on a week-long trip, changed it myself. Second time, I had a cracked exhaust bracket replaced on my Road King two days before another long trip. Set out from Kalamazoo, got to Cincinnati, had tranny oil all over everything cause they left 4 of the 6 tranny cover screws loose, along with all of the heat shields on the right side of the bike. A friend of mine swears by checking the battery terminals before every trip. Surprising how many of our group have had "mystery" problems, caused by slightly loose or dirty connections on the battery.
