The wife and I are watching another big snow dump here west of Boston, MA and so we've started thinking about possible 7-10 day trip this summer and are looking for suggestions. We've done Nova Scotia twice, including the Cabot Trail; Newfoundland once, Yellowstone, Tetons, Glacier, etc. We are interested in scenery and are curious if anyone might recommend a ride up into Canada? Perhaps around Lake Ontario? Thanks for any ideas.

If you haven't been recently, and if you like smaller, less travelled roads. a ride south including eastern WV and western VA could be enjoyable. You could spend a couple days just riding the small, paved, six hundred numbered, roads of Bath, Highland, Rockbridge counties VA. I forget the names of the other counties there but basically west of I-81, from Front Royal south to Blacksburg and beyond. The main east-west roads like 33, 250, and 39 cross the ridges. Then if time allows cross 81 and take a day or two on Blue Ridge Parkway down to western NC.
For 7-10 days how about a little bit farther, and circle Lake Superior. It would give you the scenery and great history. The UP of Michigan is a highlight as well, with the Great Lakes Shipwreck museum and other places to see. Then there's the Sault Ste. Marie shipping locks.
How about South Dakota ?
See the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Mount, and Stugis ( without all the bikers ). There is Custard National Park and over in Utah Devil's Tower. Not to mention the western town of Deadwood. We went there three years ago to see Mount Rushmore thinking there wasn't anything else around. Boy was we surprised.
We could have spend another week. Don't miss out on the ' Corn Palace' in Mitchell SD. ( the wife made me go ! ) The decorate the whole outside of the build with corn to made a huge mural.
