Years ago a friend of mine (and fellow rider) bought a book listing the best foods in each state such as the best chile; best burger; best steak, etc. We ate our way from Key West to Pigeon Forge. Great trip. I used to be 170 lb... now I'm 310 ha-ha. recently I found a web site at http://www.roadfood.com/ and it is similar to that book. The Mrs. and I have explored different cities and states just because they are there and we were not. The journeys are always great. We have stayed with small cities and rural routes which is our preference.
Thanks for the tip on the roadfood site. We watch Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives every chance we get and take notes on places we may get to visit. Sometimes the best food comes from the most unexpected places.
Another good road site is motorcycleroads.us instead of .com.
Maybe they're sister sites, but I've been using the .us site for years now and really like it.

The Urban Dictionary has this following definition:
1. motorcycle food
a type of food that you like so much that you are all but forced to make an "Mmmmmmmm" sound when eating it.
Hey skootchnc! Thanks for the great website! Didn't realize it, but we've eaten at a bunch of the places in Arkansas that they list... every one of them's been good, too!
Good thread, all...keep it going!

You PLAN to eat somewhere? What an interesting concept. Our tours are basically: ride all morning until Hubby is hungary and then grab lunch; then ride some more till he finds a hotel with a Restaurant within walking distance. And his 'walking distance' means less than an hour away. Cute guy.
We both loved touring New Mexico, the Mom and Pop diners were fabulous, and NO, I do not want to even think about what was IN my taco! In many states we try to get to a McDonalds for lunch because we could get a fresh salad. Diner was usually doable: no dishes for me! And we do our own breakfast in the motel room, because I can NOT eat restaurant meals 3 times a day for a month. I start to feel, and look, like those cows in the Kansas Feed Lots!
