Default Asheville,NC in June.....

The wife and I are are planning a trip to the Asheville area around the 2nd week in June. I have been there twice before but on business and never with the bike. Does anyone know of must ride roads in the area or any bike friendly hotels to stay in. Any other information would be great....

Thanks, Mark

Mark, you may consider the Mt Pisgah Inn http://www.pisgahinn.com/ which is located on the BRP just 20 miles further south from Asheville. At about 5,000' it'll be cooler, it has a great view, and the restaurant is nice as well. (Unusual for a State run facility in my experience) A few years ago my wife and I stayed there. We spent one day at the Biltmore, one day north on the BRP where we took a couple hikes, and one day riding south on the BRP to the end in Tennessee. Then just riding back to the Inn zig zagging on the small roads.

save up your money and go visit the Biltmore while you are in Ashville. Hard to believe real people lived like that in the late 1800's when most folks were lucky just to have a Sears catalog to use in their out house....very beautiful estate, lots to see and do there.

+1 on The Pisgah Inn. Hubby & I stayed there for one night, 2 years ago when we rode through the area on a week long road trip, around the same time of year. Beautiful scenery, pleasant staff, good restaurant (with a GREAT micro brew beer list!!!!)....

Has anyone stayed at the Bent Creek Lodge in Asheville? Thinking of staying there and venturing out in a different direction every day. It looks pretty good on the website, but then again, everything looks better on the internet. The hotel really doesnt matter to me that much but my other half has slightly higher standards
