looking for advice on a trip I'm planning this summer . I'll be riding from Cincinnati to the DC area for some training, after which we plan on taking four or five days to return to Cincinnati.Last year we traveled Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge parkway after our stint in the DCc area it was A great ride and I could definitely do it again but we are looking for something a little different .We are considering riding to the East coast and riding Delmarva peninsula south through outer banks ect.Any suggestions on route or other trips that might fit the five day criteria for returning to Cincinnati from DC would be appreciated.
I grew up in Baltimore and now live in NYC. I've been down to Outer Banks Bike Week. My opinion is that the eastern shore is rather flat and boring unless you're into seafood or the ocean. Crabs will be running in the Chesapeake at that time so you'll be able to get them in DC just fine.
I'd suggest you head north west instead. Western Maryland has some small mountains, great farmland roads and small towns. Gettysburg battlefield is a fantastically preserved battlefield and great to see on a bike. Gettysburg Bike Week is July 7-10 this year. The H-D factory is nearby. PA has some great river roads and the "Grand Canyon of the East."
Here's some sites to give you an idea; http://www.motorcycleroads.us/states/pa.html http://pacanyon.com/ http://gettysburgtrips.com/

We did U.S.50 from south of Indianapolis to just outside of D.C. last year. Very pleasant ride. I will do it again, Kentucky and West Virginia are beautiful!!!
