Does anyone have a recommendation for a GPS? The variety is wide and appears more than necessary to get from a to b. Would a GPS remove all the maps I carry?
I think GPS is great. I have the Garmin Quest 2, which comes loaded with the U.S. map. By the way, Garmin makes the Harley Road Tech GPS, but you'll get a better deal if you get the Quest 2. As far as being helpful, I just installed it on the bike this past week, and have only tested it (no long trips yet). But I can tell you that is has come in handy when I wanted to find a nearby gas station and a Radio Shack. I can search for just about anything and it'll direct me right to it. On most GPS units, you can also plan an entire trip, with rest stops, meals breaks, and gas fill ups. The Quest 2 is portable....I use it in my car and can also use it for hiking, or even on a boat with additional navigational maps loaded.
Recently installed a Garmin 2720 on my ultra. Easy install with hardwire to acc switch via terminal under seat. I ordered the cradle and wire set from garmin and this was easily adapted to RAM mounting brackets on handlebar....bought chrome mounts and looks great. This garmin unit works great and can be disconnected quickly and used on any vehicle. Easy downloads as well.
well... i ordered the quest2 and a m/c mount kit... I like the sound cords that come with HD m/c mount kit... I don't need the whole kit, like the mount and hardware, so does anyone know what the part numbers are for the ear bud speaker, radio/aux input harness or where I could purchase them?

I added the Harley Road Tech to my Ultra several months ago. I absolutly love having it on board. It has found dealerships, gas, hotels, and many other places of intrest for me. Its also great to know that I can ride anywhere I want, and instantly have the shortest route home laid out for me. I can set it to avoid freeways, dirt roads, and other features. I set a route on my computer, download it into the unit, and at a touch of a button, I have the entire route laid out and turn by turn directions to wherever I want to go.
I have a Garmin 276C, I mount it on a ram mount. I can take it off for use in truck and car too. Neat part is you can put the cursor on a map point and it will get you there turn by turn. Some of the others I looked at were smaller screens.

I run the Garmin 2720 also. Never leave home without it. I love to take unknown back roads and the Garmin always gets me back to anywhere a want to be. Highly recommended.
