I guess I wouldn't call it a road trip, but it was my first time ever on the real highway, I've only had my cross bones 2 weeks!
Was just going to tool around Fargo today but followed HWY 52 out to a town about 20 miles away and when I thought about turning around I said "screw it" and just kept going. I ended up about 70 miles out in the lake country and loved every second of it. I now am home and want to leave again. Being that I'm laid off, I just want to head west one of these days and see how far I get.
Welcome to the club! The need to ride kinda gets in your blood. Love the Fargo/Morehead area. We've made a couple holiday weekend trip that have included F/M. One to Duluth and one to Medora.
I have a couple of friends that are getting the chance of a lifetime to ride the US for almost ten weeks. They are returning to Maine in August. They are plotting their trip and between F/M and Sault Ste. Marie they have nothing in the plans... I grew up near Rochester, but are unfamiliar with the conditions of the roads and the specifics of how to get to certain sites or suggest great pavement.
I would suggest to them Lake Itasca, via 113, then 71 and then 2 towards Big Winni. I know they would love the entire North Shore, but don't know if they have the patience to do it up and back, would going through Hibbing be a better way up and then down 61?
Also looking for suggestions to help them decide whether or not to go north of Superior through Canada or through WI and the UP. I have never been beyond Thunder Bay.
Any help anyone can provide via suggestions or warnings...it would be quite valuable.
PS. Congrats on the Crossbones, man! sorry about the economy. Best wishes for wonderful trips!

MNROD,
You are now suffering from MAS (Motorcycle Addiction Syndrome). Welcome to the club. The only way to keep this addiction under control is to ride. You will find yourself enjoying the ride more and more. Go with this addiction. Let it flow and enjoy it.

So, that's what it is! Yeah, all I want to do is ride my Harley. Never had so much fun before. I'm almost glad I got laid off because I can ride anytime I want.
