3,000 Miles to...
Myself and many others on this forum are with you every step of the way. Keep us informed on what we are doing and what we see. This is a great evacation for me almost like being there.
Ride safe and watch for idiots. They're out there lurking.

And watched as it got lighter and lighter...

Then I went across the street for breakfast at the Dancing Bear, and on the way back I noticed some thick frost on this roof...

When I got back to my room I watched the Weather Channel. They changed their forecast to 2" of snow tonight and another 2" of snow tomorrow. I packed up and headed south. Rode down Rt. 73 through Keene Valley and saw some of the best scenery of my trip. I highly recommend this road... but plan to spend more time than I did... there are more rivers and lakes than you can imagine... here are some of the leaves...

Here's a beautiful waterfall -- you need to see this one in person...

And more leaves...

When I got on I-87 I was amazed at the beauty. I parked at this rest stop...

I could see Schroon Lake in the distance...

Here's a little better shot of the lake...

If I am travelling after peak leaf season, I can't imagine how it could get better...

I took I-88 over to Binghamton. What an awesome road that turned out to be... mountains, beautiful rolling hills and farms... what a sight... I wish I had time to stop and take pictures all day long... but at least I got my laundry done tonight. Maybe I'll rest up tomorrow...
It's a funny thing about our "best laid plans" when travelling on a motorcycle, huh? ...it seems they seldom turn out the way we envision them.
The forecast for the eastern half of the country went downhill fast, so I left Binghampton yesterday morning, and got on I-81 south and raced a lot of trucks until the rain and cold got to me. I'm camped out in a nice, warm, inexpensive hotel in Winchester, Va. It's looking cold and wet for the next couple of days so this is a perfect time and place to think about "what's next" in life for this OldCoot...

(Photo by Cinza on Google Maps of Old Town Winchester -- not where I'm camped out.)
If we get another surprise from the weather forecasters and better weather shows up, I'll continue the tour and post more pictures.

Keep us posted..
We've had rain and highs in the 40's all week.
Good luck for the rest of your trip and try to stay dry.
