I am planning an escape from Minnesota winter. A friend, my wife, and I are going to escape to Texas Hill Country at the end of February. I figured out where to stay and where to ride, (thanks to this forum) and looks like it will be lots of fun, but I need help with how to get the bikes there. How big a trailer do I need for 3 bikes? A sportster, a Street Bob, and a Fat boy. Any help is appreciated.
check your local dealer to see if they'll rent you one. otherwise if you are looking to buy Fleet Farm has a nice line of enclosed trailers that are built down in Iowa.
My local rental place has a few, I was more wondering what size I need.
The picture of 2 on the 5x8 is pretty helpful.
Does anyone have a clue what the weather is normally like down there at that time of year?
I've been down to south central Texas the past two Januarys on hunting trips and the weather has been nice. Last year it was close to 70, two years ago we were in the upper 70's.
AS far as the trailer, I agree with SailorDon that you'll need a tandem axle to handle the weight. Most single axles are rated for 3000# max. I would want to have a trailer with front wheel docks installed which is why I suggested checking at the dealers.
