Michigan to WV
Thinking about going from Michigan down to Holly River State Park near Hacker Valley. Probably will get down to Elkhart, IN then take 33 pretty much the whole way till I get to Buckhannon, WV then just little ways south. Was going to camp at the state park then take 33 through the mountains east to Harrisonburg, VA then 340 up to Martinsburg, WV where I have some family to visit. Anyone ever done this ride? Is 33 good from IN to WV. I've taken 33 from Holly River to Richmond before and it's an awesome ride with mountains and cutbacks and so on.

I am from WV too, actually about 30 miles from Holly River State Park. It is a beautiful place and lots of great motorcycle roads in the area. I would recommend taking Rt 20 on to Webster Springs. There you have two options, take Rt 15 to Valley Head and on to Huttonsville. There you can head on up to Elkins and catch US33 or take US250 towards Monterey. US 250 is just as good, if not better than US33, IMO. Another option out of Webster Springs is to continue on Rt 20 to Fenwick and take Rt 55/39 thru Richwood to Rt 150 to Rt 219 and back to Valley Head. Rt 55/39 coming out of Richwood is a beautiful road with a nice grade and sweepers. Rt 150 is a Scenic Highway and very nice. Also continuing on Rt 39 into Virginia is a very nice motorcycle road too. Really you can't go wrong, as you probably know, on any paved road in WV!. As far as US 33 from Ohio, I have been on US33 from Ripley to Buckhannon. US33 from Weston to Buckhannon is a 4 lane, 65 mph. Nice 2 lane road with several small towns to go through between Ripley and Weston. Rt 20 from Buckhannon to Holly River State Park is a very nice road too.
ENJOY!!

Thanks Jim, I think I will take 20 15 to Webster Springs then 15 on up to 250. That whole area is my favorite part of WV. I really miss it down there. I grew up in Point Pleasant and as a kid used to go camping alot at Holly River and Chief Cornstalk Campground. We then moved up to Martinsburg which is where my folks live now so I'll take 250 to Waynesboro and then I'm thinking 340 North. Thanks for the advice!
I haven't been too far north on 33 but 250 from wv to waynesboro and 340 north is great ride. You go harpers ferry along the Potomac river and when you get to the cut off for Boonesboro, I can't remember the road, its also a real nice ride through the mountain. Wide roads with sweeping curves and some nice towns to stop at.

I've been to the Harpers Ferry/ Boonesboro/ Sharpsburg/ Antietam area. That is a great area to ride like you said. I am looking forward to getting back in those nice mountain sweepers. It's pretty flat and straight up here in Michigan.
