We'll be on three black bikes and one that's kinda red. Probably be the only black bikes around, so we should be easy to spot, too!

Default Gardiner, MT

The way things have shaped up, I'll be in Gardiner, MT July 23rd & 24th. From there will be heading up to West Glacier, MT on the 25th. Still debating about taking US-2 East from there, as a few have given me the "It's oh-so-barren and amenities are far & few between" speech....

I've been on US-2 through ME, NH, VT, NY, MI, ID & WA (...not a bad route at all); but not through MT, ND or MN; so I really can't say. Without fail I've gotten emails from those who have been on it through those States and they talk of it being a truly boring ride, having to plan gas stops well ahead, unpredictable weather (and no place to hide when it comes) with 20-30 MPH crosswinds being something of a norm, small towns with very few decent motels, God forbid if your bike breaks down, etc., etc. Almost sounds like a real adventure.....

US 2 along the "highline" will seem desolate to east-coast types. It is what it is. Look at the map.

But, if you came out west for an experience of riding the high plains and mountain valleys, US 2 will deliver.

Riding in the mountains is easily impressive. Riding the high plains is a completely different experience, at least for me. I love it, but then again I chose to live in the west.

There's a reason most tourists stay in the southern and western parts of the state (mountains and national parks). But if you want to see the west more like Lewis & Clark did, ride the high line.

Default What A Trip!

Hey, folks, I'm back from my 3 week adventure and have been meaning to at least make a quick post. In short, it was awesome, and I did take some of your advice along the way. Left on July 10th & returned on July 31st. Rather than ramble on here, feel free to check out my blog:

http://ironmancc.wordpress.com

From the front page, I'd recommend scrolling down the bottom and clicking on the "Older Posts" link repeatedly until you get back to the start on July 10th, that way you can read it in order.
