We live in Yuma and I've got some vacation next week so me & the wife want to get out of town. Gotta drop our youngest off at his GP's house in Casa Grande so we figured we will trailer the bikes and just go through and spend 2 or 3 days in the Tucson area. I have some friends a relatives there but they don't ride so I was hoping to get some good advice here...Tried the search but no luck.
Tombstone is a good tourist trap but it is worth seeing. Saguaro NP on the east side of town is a nice ride. If you have ever been into astronomy, the Kit Peak National Observatory west of town on hwy 86 is really interesting. I never imagined how big those telescopes are and deep into the ground. The whole city of Tucson is designed to not give of light that will interfere with the Observatory. I like Tucson, can't stand Phoenix. Happy Trails.
Thanks, I like Tucson as well, not interested in even tryng to ride in Phx. I was thinking of Old Tucson as well lokks like a good short ride, on the map anyway. I know this is probably a tourist trap as well but I've never seen it.
Gotta ride up to Mt. Lemmon and into Sabino Canyon - also great rides.
Almost forgot, if you go to Old Tucson and you head in from the city, you'll go through Gate's pass - great place to stop for a few minutes to take in the view. When I lived there back in 79 I would ride there just to relax and take a break from the the rat-race of life.
my favorite ride is west of town in the saguaro np.. start at Ina Rd at I-10 by Tucson HD dealer go west on Ina Rd past Silverbell Rd to Wade Rd south (look for Saguaro NP signs) That turns into Picture Rocks Rd take that west to Sandario Rd south until you see Kinney Rd (signs say Saguaro NP visitors center) Follow Kinney Rd (stop at vistors center as they have maps) Try Mccain Loop Rd that takes you back to Kinney Rd towards Old Tucson Movie Studio Then look for Gates Pass Rd Going east back over the Mountain towards Tucson to Speedway Rd back to I-10. The road up Mt Lemmon On the NW side of Tucson is nice too, especially when it's hot in town.

Buddy and rode South out of Tucson to Nogales then across to Tombstone and down to Bisbee then back to Tucson a great day of riding.
Next day we rode up to Jakes Corner (a HOG spot) which is NE of Phx.
Thanks to everyone for your replies....Tucson was Great!! unfortunately we only had really one good day to ride then weather got kinda nasty and cut our second day short....we ended up Staying on Oracle at the Best Western (Good rates for HOG members) so we rode south to Speedway stoped at the Bashful Bandit (Cool local Biker bar) then turned right on the Old Spanish Trail followed it to the Sagauro Nat. Park, rode the 8 mile loop through the park then got back on the trail and rode up to Colosal Cave it's was a GREAT! ride (only About 60miles round trip) On the way back we rode through the down town areas and up 4th avenue. It wasn't a bunch of miles but took us the whole day.
