Harley Ride Planer works great and you can highlight POI's, Hotels, HD Dealers, etc. I just used it to plan a ride from TX to S Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming. We don't carry the maps, we just use this to organize our ride to a point and give us a general idea of where we are going. We are not above seeing something we like and completely changing our route.
+1 on Map Source that comes with the Garmin Zumo devices. Very easy to use, very detailed in what you can do with it such as waypoints (attractions along your routes).. I was in the Smokies last year and without a GPS, you'll miss soooooooo much...
