Default Yosemite National Park

Posting a few photos from last week's 4-day 1,000-mile Southern California mountain road trip from Venice to Yosemite National Park, past Tehachapi, Lake Isabella, and through the Sequoia National Forest. Stayed mostly on 2-lane blacktop, avoiding freeways wherever practical, returning through the farmland to Maricopa, then through the mountains to Ventura. Encountered extremely light or no traffic virtually everywhere along the way. Beautiful sunny days. Cold at highest elevations.

The great water falls were filled with so much snow-melt, with the wind blowing it a 1/4-mile to the visitor parking area! Saw the terrible destruction caused by previous lightning storm some time back. The major east-west pass connecting to route 395 was closed and not expected to open for a month. All other roads were clear and mostly dry.

Finding gas, food and lodging were never a problem, even though I stayed on mostly "back" roads. The Dyna performed flawlessly, as usual, from sea-level to 9,000'+, and averaged 45 mpg for the trip.

One of my best bike trips ever. Comments welcome.

Thank you. The photos were taken with my old Nikon manual film camera, then scanned for posting.

Yosemite is the kind of place you can keep going back to. Some of it looks like another planet. A great motorcycle destination.

Great pics! I'm heading there next week to do some hiking and to climb Half Dome. Hopefully I'll survive! It is an amazingly beautiful place! It should be on everyone's Bucket List - IMHO.

Awesome pics, I'm definitely jealous! Did you only take those saddle bags for the whole trip?

Thank you to everyone who has commented.

besides the saddlebags, the last of the series of photos shows my hillbilly style of loading the sissy-bar; that includes a T-Bag w/ top-bag, small leather day-pack, camera bag, and fanny-pack. This allowed infinite adjustment and provided a most excellent backrest which I call the Barcalounger! The total load for the trip weighed only 60 pounds (I weighed everything when I unloaded), including bags, 33 of that the loaded saddlebags, which are simple leather throw-overs.

Three changes of clothing was sufficient. Plus I carried extra-warm clothing and rain pants; also I carried a sleeping bag for survival, just in case, but used motels each night.

I thought the pics looked a little Kodachrome-y. What are you using, an old FM2?

I try to get to Yosemite at least once a year - it is a great place. Thanks for sharing your photos.

DluxLady - are you rock climbing Half Dome or climbing the cables?

Thanks everyone for your interest and comments.

I was using an old manual focus Nikon F3T, as shown in the attached photo.
