Heading west Thursday. Expecting all kinds of weather.
Been kicking around the idea of mesh jackets. Spent a
couple hours Saturday looking and trying on a ton of'em.
Gave up and headed home. Come across a jap dealer and
stopped by. They had one that was suprisingly comfy, price
not bad. Had the features I wanted, liner, mesh, straps,
light armor, but I'm not familiar with the brand. I have a
fleece to put on under it for extreme cold. It is a Vega
Mainstay. Opinions on these jackets? Thanks. Oh yeh,
I'm not into the leather jackets, I know they have the best
protection but, don't like'em, sold what I had.
This week I'm leaving for Oregon. Crossing the plains it'll likely be hot so I'm taking my mesh jacket along with my regular riding jacket. One will be bungie'd on my rear seat and I'll be wearing the other. My mesh is an old Joe Rocket which I've had for a number of years. For *me*, riding in the heat and sun, for hours at a time, it's automatic for me to wear it. I'm cooler wearing it than wearing no jacket and a T shirt, due to the fact it reflects most of the sun. Wetting my T-shirt underneath makes it almost like an air conditioner. The bad thing is, with its elbow and shoulder armor, it takes about as much space folded up as my regular jacket. Never the less I'll recommend them.
