Heading out for an 8 day 2200+ mile road trip...can't wait. Here's the skinny. If there are any 'MUST SEE' places that anyone would like to mention, I'm all ears.
Day 1) Leave So Florida and head to Hilton Head. Not much but highway riding this day...
Day 2 (first half) Head to Swansboro, NC to visit family by way of Charleston, Myrtle Beach and Wilmington, NC.
Day 2.5 - 4 - Nowhere...visiting family. Maybe ride Emerald Isle to Morehead City.
Day 5-6) Head to Asheville by way of Raliegh, Greensboro, Grandfather Mountain and Mt Mitchell.
Day 7) Head to Atlanta by way of Maggie Valley, Deals Gap and thru Blue Ridge.
Day 8) Head home to So Florida. All highway riding.
Installed LRS 6.5 shield, Aux lights, floor board extentions, Alaska leather gel pad w/wool top seat to my 08 SG...and I'm ready to roll...of course a fresh dose of Amsoil and a few wax/chrome polishes to make the road grime come off easier.
I'd say instead of Blue Ridge GA head down 60 to Suches and head through dahlonega via 19 that'll take ya all the way down to Atlanta once it turns into GA 400 (which is a toll road or skip it a quick jump onto 285 west to 75). There's some good riding to be had on that road, been through there many a time.
+1 on the Wheels Through Time. I did it over the Labor Day weekend and it was great. Check out their web site to see the days they are open. There are no bad roads in the whole area, just point the front wheel in any direction and enjoy.
