O.F...how about the idea of enjoying the run itself. I agree that Laconia would be a great palce to see without all of the people there but half the fun is the event.
I already gave you a day or two. Whadaya want? The whole week?
Just being cynical in my old age, I guess.
Back in the day, you could camp out on the highways. Babes could show their ***** without getting arrested. Drunkenness and mayhem everwhere! Now, that was fun!
Edit - I was on the Weirs on Thursday. 70* day. Nobody around.....nice.
BTW, the 15 miles of NH coast is a very nice ride too.
O.F..................my bad. Didn't see that part of your post. My old boss got a second home on the lake and he says the same thing as you. When I went, I rode more than I went downtown so I got the best of both worlds. I love the bar/night life during the runs though.
I'll guess most people do just that now. Spend an afternoon poking around and then get out of town. It's nuts around there. If you're drinking, you'd best be walking or have a designated driver. Not bashing them as all that I've encountered here in NH are true professionals but local cops around here have little else to do but monitor traffic for drunks at night. They'll sit just outside the local bars and wait for you.
I've been going to New Hampshire for many years and 2010 was the first year I took in bike week. There is another rally the same week "Rally in the Valley". I stayed in North Conway for that one and took day trips to Laconia. Crossing The Kancamagus Highway to get from one venue to another is to quite a ride. Laconia is rather packed, very busy, and not cheap. Suggest checking out North Conway, about 30 miles away from Laconia.
My wife and I will be staying a night at the red roof inn in Loundon. Will there be lots of bikers staying there? Thanks
We stayed there the last couple of years.Clean and friendly. Lots of bikers there, but it is a quieter spot. If you want to party this may not be the place. nice drive to Laconia, past the NH speedway if you take the old road. There is a highway too can't remember the number. Concord has a dealer (Heritage) too, bike wash during bike week. Nice folks. Have fun!
best advise? go sunday to wednesday when uits not so crowded, get place as close as you can afford so you can park the bike at night I walk to the party. Me and my friends are the rowdy bunch infront of the Naswa
