All in all, this was my favorite trip I've taken so far. The New River Gorge was incredible, as was the road leading down into the Gorge. The surrounding areas were great as well. We camped at Babcock State Park the first night. The 2nd night...well we stayed in a horse barn.
If you are thinking about going to West Virginia, do it. The areas around the Gorge are fantastic. Hawk's Nest on HIghway 60 (Beautiful Road) was great. Gauley's Bridge was wonderful too.
I moved to WV this year from Virginia, but originally from the Adirondak Mountains in NY. WV is a great place to ride, the people are friendly as hell and the scenery is beautiful. If you liked WV I suggest riding anywhere up in the Adirondaks, I miss it up there and hope to move back some day.
You did have quite an adventure. As for the Spyderco, I don't wish to get that close! I just settle on a trusty Springfield Arms XP40!! Great story! You should have walked out there that evening and sassed then in Latin!

chaz, yeah my dad had us covered as well. he doesnt go anywhere without his SA .40. It was so surreal to hear that out in the dark. Thought I was dreaming at first.
One of my routes to work takes me across 60 and down 19 over the bridge. Another route takes me down thru the Gorge at another location (Prince). Work still sucks but the ride to get there can be great.
Agreed....by the looks of that place I would expect some axe wielding psychopath to be tromping around out there. Some nice old man says "sure you can stay out in the barn" I would have most likely wound up in the soup next morning!
dura, im jealous. those were honestly one of the prettiest roads ive been on. I love 28 in NC, but 19 and 60 in WV were great.
I'm working on a video of the trip. I even turned on the camera while the nuts were yelling out in the dark. Can't hear much, but I think the video will turn out well. The other shots I got of the Gorge and roads were great.
Beautiful place...we went last year...Beautiful road...watch for the speed freaking trap in GaULEY Bridge...ask me how i know...******* cop...31 in a 25,,,
