Got mine in June, and I've put over 10k on her already. I'm on the North side. Before long you'll be taking day long rides. Saturday, I left the house at 10:00 and didn't pull back into the garage till 7:00. Rode north, ran the Cherohala from west to east, then back home...320 miles. All leaves gone at 3k ft and above, but still a great ride.
Take it slow and build your confidence...and ENJOY!!!
