Aaaaargh! Looks like Arkansas trip is off. Need ideas...
For the last four years I've put together a 5 or 6 day trip out west for the guys I ride with in NY/NJ. (We fly and rent). Trip has grown from 4 guys to 14, with 16 projected for 2011. So far the rides were as follows:
Year 1: Vegas (rode NV, AZ, CA)
Year 2: Chandler, AZ (rode AZ, CO, UT)
Year 3: Denver, CO (rode CO, NM)
Year 4: San Diego, CA (rode CA, AZ, NV)
This year was thinking about Arkansas as I've heard the riding is great. Unfortunately ran into 2 problems; 1) no direct flights (not a deal breaker, but direct is better), and 2) HD dealers do not have enough bikes in their rental fleet.
So, now I need some ideas.
Criteria:
Direct flight from NY
HD dealer near airport with enough rentals (Ultras, RG, SG, RK)
Great roads and sights!
Good weather
Fun towns
Looking for location suggestions and some route ideas.
Hi, What about flying into Chicago and renting from Chicago Harley in Glenview. They would have enough for sure. Then, up into Wisconsin , see the Harley Museum. Wisconsin has some great roads and places to stay. Then maybe down the Mississippi and then intersect with route 66 and then take that back up into Illinois. Chicago is a great one day place too.
if you're still looking at the Arkansas trip, try flying into Dallas and renting...you're about 4 hours by road from Arkansas and you can also come up through Oklahoma to the northwest corner of Arkansas and back down........just a thought...
Have to Agree with JayStronghawk. I had a group from the UK, (11 off us) come over this past Sept. and did the Atlanta rental and on up to the Smokies (GA, NC, SC, TN) for a 10 day trip. Stayed in Robbinsville NC at Two Wheel INN, great place and location for riding. You would never regret the trip and I would gamble you would do it again. If you need any further information I would be glad to help you out. I make the trip to the Smokies at lease 2-3 times a year. Send PM and I will get in contact with you via email.

Thanks jaystronghawk and stewarrd. I've heard the riding is great and is one of the destinations we're thinking about. Any idea how the weather typically is towards the end of May? Still cold? Rainy?

Suggestions for other locations still would be real helpful. Thanks.
