Default Glacier National Park

Hi,

Looking for advice. Will be leaving Minneapolis for a trip to Glacier National park. Any tips on where to go, stay, roads, places to eat etc. Camping is not an option.

Any help would be appreciated

Ride the Beartooth Pass and Chief Joseph Highway also since you're coming from the East check out the Bighorn Forest Scenic Byway loop in Wyoming, all 3 are highly recommended.

I went to Glacier this summer. The first night we stayed in Williston ND, the second night we stayed in Kalispel MT.

Depending on when you go, reserve rooms. We had a hard time finding rooms.

Ride the "Road to the Sun"......... I prefer to ride it from the east to the west. Remember this road is closed sometimes till the middle of June.

Bring your rain gear.....we hit a little rain every day.

Don't stay in Browning MT......once you see it, you will know why.

If I think of some other good tips I will chime back in......

That trip was in 2007. Definitely do the Going to the Sun Highway and ride to Many Glacier! A neat place to visit too is The Huckleberry Place in Hungry Horse, MT. Rode US 89 and US 2. Both nice roads. We stayed at motels in White Sulphur Springs and Libby, MT. Both very nice towns with some great places to eat and nice local folks! Coming back from Alaska this summer stayed one night at the Chalet Motel in Whitefish, MT. Very nice motorcycle friendly motel.

Mini Golden Inns in Hungry Horse. It's close to the west end of "Road To The Sun".
Nothing fancy, but very clean, park your ride outside your door and motorcycle friendly. http://www.hungryhorselodging.com/

I would suggest riding hy 2 "the hi line" across n.d. and mont. it's better than the interstate. stop at the grand bar in chester mont. for broasted chicken and some really cool people.we stayed at swiftcurrent inn in the park . fairly primitive cabins but o.k. and not to expensive. book now or you will probably find every room in the park booked. take a red jammer tour, you can sight see without having to watch the road. then when you ride over the going to the sun hiway think of my wife and me,we did it in the pouring rain.also i agree Browning mt. is not a place to stay. great trip. you will have a great time.

Personally I wouldn't ride the Going to the Sun road. You'd miss too much trying to navigate and staying on the road. One wrong turn and you're a goner. We took a Red Bus and enjoyed the hell out of it.

I stayed at St Marys lodge near the east entance to GNP and the "Going to the Sun" road for 2 nights while we explored the park and really enjoyed it. We also spent 1 night in Kalispel and 1 in Whitefish. We really enjoyed the Whitefish area which has some small western type casinos. We also stayed 1 night in Sandpoint ID which we also enjoyed. There was a really nice restaurant/ bar in the downtown area but I don't remember the name.

WTF? Why do you even own a bike? Might as well sell it and buy a minivan.

Going to the Sun Hwy is a great ride, done it several times, will do it again.
