Default Hwy 36 ca

Wondering if any of you have ridden Hwy 36 from Red Bluff to Fortuna in Cali. I have a friend in Eureka and I'm looking for another route to get up to his place. I'm in Stockton and usually take I-5 to Hwy20 to 101, just looking for a change in scenery. Any info, road conditions, places to stop, etc. would be appreciated!

I rode across the 36 last summer. If you like curves it is the way to go. There is not much out there but a small town close to each end. Miles and miles of nothing. It is a good paved road all the way. It will take several hours to ride. You may not average above 45 or 50 mph. It is a nice ride with not alot of traffic. In the summer there is alot of vintage motorcycles out there sometimes. I think a bay area club has a campground out there somewhere.
Make sure you fill up before you leave Red Bluff. No gas for a long ways.

I hate that road....just kidding. I hate it because for all the years I have been visiting my folks in Red Bluff, I never knew it was there. Then I move to San Diego and read about it on pashnit.com. It looks awesome.

Nice ride (especially on a sporty). Probably not at this time of year though.

I rode that on my CBR 1000RR about 4 times in 3 years. It was a great ride. Watch out around some of the corners as there may be some sand or a few rocks from the hill. But it is a HIGHLY recommended road!
