Default Teton's Trip

looking for advice and suggestions for trip. plan on being in Teton's sept 6. we have 14 days total to spend i know i'll catch flack for this but we trailer the bikes in a 33ft toyhauler pulled by 3500 dodge dually. we like to find a central (hub)location a NP or rv park and do daily rides out from there. once we have exhausted or seen what we want move on to another location. we have no interest in YNP so open for suggestions for daily rides and places of lodging. we have learned to be off the road by 5pm and to try and hold the rides to 150-200 miles per day! realize weather may play a major role in where and what we do.
thanks in advance for the advice !

You're in really big country and my first advice would be to stay in Jackson Wyo, but I think that's very confining if you have 14 days in the area, since they don't call it Jackson "Hole" for nothing.

I'd probably base in Bozeman MT. That way you could go in all directions and see a lot of stuff. Your only obstacle to the Tetons would be YNP, but you know it's a great ride!!! Cody, Sawtooths etc all within reach. Cheaper to stay in Bozeman than Jackson as well. Jackson has a lot of high priced restaurants, that frankly, are mostly mediocre.

Personally I would stay in http://codyponderosa.com/ its a great place for your setup, clean facility, close to Tetons, Shoshone, Custer, Bighorns, Thermopolis has the Buffalo Bill museum and the Irma Hotel, nightly rodeos ....

I used to work at http://www.flaggranch.com/ and I think it's a decent place. It's been years since I've been there but I'm sure it's still nice.

Here's a nice short ride for you to consider. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...,2.113495&z=10

There are a lot of other great rides in the area, but basing out of Jackson, avoiding YNP, and keeping rides under 200 miles are some tough criteria to meet, especially if you have in mind spending each night in the same motel. There are huge roadless areas and the only way around is the long way. Other than the loop above, which is only about 100 miles, I think you're going to be better off based out of Cody or Bozeman as suggested previous posters. Even then, I would strongly consider planning to be at your "base" maybe every other night.

Absolutely gorgeous up there. I suggest riding Custer Sate Park area and the "going to the sun" highway if you have time.

Bring warm clothes. I was up that way
Labor Day weekend 2010 and temps were in the 20's early in the morning. We had snow flurries and temps never got above 50 in Yellowstone.
