Default Rolling thunder..

Hey Queen good to see your going to a great event to support our POW's /MIA's..
i am a RT11 member here in FLA..
If there is any questions you or others on this site have, regarding RT, maybe i can direct you to proper place for an answer. Not sure if you have been to D.C. yet for this demonstration, but one thing is for sure, if your with someone make plans to meet someplace after the ride , like lincoln memorial steps, As the possibility of getting seperated is almost guaranteed with riders in the 100's of thousands The pentagon parking lot is usually hot, humid and lots of waiting, so water is a must. Have fun, enjoy and watch your self with other bikes as everyone wants to get there safe. later .. Rydahog, Rolling Thunder Chapter 11, Fla.

rydahog: Thank you so much for the info. Yes, i figured it almost inevitable that traffic and route planning will be a pain.

This will be my first time there, yes.

ABNRanger: That sounds like a great idea, we'll have to check it out. Thus far, there are a couple of memorial services that we want to hit and of course the usual DC thing on Saturday, but I'm sure we can squeeze in a scoot over to the HD in MD.

Anyone know of a great alternative route to Washington DC besides ***** to the wall 81 the majority of the way? Thought about a little more scenic route at least part of the way since I have all day.

I'm in upstate NY (near Syracuse) and leaving Friday morning...

Also looking for riders in NY, PA, etc. that might be able to hook up with along the way, I'm riding solo if not...

Thanks in advance.

Default Be there as well

I'm just a lurker but...

My Road King and me will be making the trip from quad cities Iowa. Be there Friday-Monday. Planing to hit up Patriot Harley-Davidson on Saturday and the Fort Washington Harley-Davidson as well. Not sure if I am going to go straight to the Pentagon on Sunday or maybe jump in on the Ride of the Patriots - http://www.dwcllcsolutions.com/rop/default.asp

Queen, Come on down the Jersey pike or parkway to the Cape May-Lewes ferry. Take the ferry into Delaware then take your pick of several ways to get to rt 50. Take 50 into DC which becomes New York ave.
I'll be leaving here, central Delaware, about 8am Sunday morning.

Unfortunately I'm leaving Saturday morning or else we could've joined up for the ride down!

I'm riding down for the first time this year to Rolling Thunder from Eastern, PA. I'll be leading a group of about 6-10 bikes from my local HOG chapter to the area on Saturday the 28th. We are staying in the College Park, MD area and will be riding to the Pentagon with Old Glory H-D in Laurel, MD.

Our game plan is to leave the area around 9:30am and head down through York and into College Park, MD. We are heading to Fort Washington H-D on Saturday for their events and to spend some time there.

Our route as of now is, I-78 to I-81 to I-83 through York and onto 695/I-95 to I-495 into College Park.

If anyone would be interested in riding a portion of this with us, feel free to let me know. The more, the merrier!

Looking forward to this event! Seen it many times from the side of the road but this is my first year to ride in the parade itself!

COPPERFXSTC08: Old Glory HD is good people. I bought my FXDC from them last year and they were fantastic. They are a very customer focused dealership and offer a lot of events throughout the year.

QUEEN: For an alternate route, you should cut west from Cortland, NY on 13 over to Elmira, then pick up 17 over to 15. Follow 15 all the way down through PA. 15 is a beautiful ride down through the Susquehanna River Valley and once you get around Harrisburg, PA, then you can work your way down by Gettysburg (which is worth a pass through on the 15 Business route). They from Frederick, MD, you can pick up I-270 down to DC. If I was coming from Syracuse, this is the way I would go.

If you have time take 66 west out of DC to Front Royal Va ride Skyline drive in Shenandoha National Park. 109 miles of the most beautiful road you could ask for. You can exit several places to the west and jump on 81 north. I rode the whole thing yesterday, oh man I didn't want to go back to the house.
