Anyone know if Fast Lane transponders work on all of 81 in PA? They work on the PA turnpike, but im not sure if 81 is considered the PA pike.
15 is a nice ride, it actually bypasses gburg less you use business 15 and the traffic there on Monday will be stop n go . 81 is not a toll road so no need to worry.

Well, hope everyone made it back safe and sound (with a little sunburn I'm sure!)

My plans were certainly changed...

The weather through PA (yes, the entire state) Friday was Rain, Tornado Warnings, Hail and Thunderstorms. The group I was supposed to ride down with called me Friday morning and said, "No Go" they wanted to wait and leave the next day.

I really needed to get there Friday as my dad had already headed north from Tennessee and I wanted to be there with him Friday night.

I decided to grab the truck, rent a trailer and trailer her down... finally got out of NY on Friday afternoon, got about two hours south into Scott, PA and the truck threw a rod in Clark's Summit. I pulled off the interstate, said a few choice words, kicked the truck and thought, "Now what?" I called my buddies that were going to ride down the following morning to see what to do, and they had already left shortly after I did and were - yup, already an hour south of me. Screwed.

I knew I couldn't hop on her then because of the weather ahead of me and my best bet was to bunker down for the night there, luckily there was a motel at the exit. Sleep it off, wait until the morning and see what to do.

Woke up Saturday morning and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Unloaded the bike, called Uhaul to come get their trailer, left my truck in the parking lot of the motel and got on the bike.

Rode by myself straight down 81 to 66 (it was about making up lost time now, not sightseeing) and got to DC about 4 p.m. Saturday evening, hooked up with Dad, all was right with the world.

Enjoyed Rolling Thunder. Was an amazing experience. Next year I will remember sunscreen... a little crispy. I met some amazing people along the way - Vets, other clubs, and everyone was hospitable.

The ride home yesterday I hooked up with a buddy and we rode straight back high tailed, 490 miles in 8 hours. Met some pretty cool people on the way back at gas stations... including one fellow HD Forums member "Tim" who saw my name patch on my vest and asked if I was the "Queen" from the boards and I said yes, indeed I am... that was a "it's a small world" moment indeed... PS, Tim tell your big tattooed "freak" buddy I said hello ;-) He'll remember me.

Back home in one piece... not a hiccup on the ole girl... the four wheeled version is Fubared. Needs a new motor and he thinks the tranny is gone as well... such is life. Nothing was stopping me from getting to the Wall.

Until next year...

The Queen

Glad to hear all turned out well. I didn't go this year as I have been ther 12 or more times. But, never ever forget, as Pa. tried to show you, this is spring time. I have done Rolling Thunder in tshirts and I have done it in full leather and rainsuits. Hopefully our VVA chapter will have a place for people to stay, here in Delaware. It's about 2.5 hour ride from here so we're thinking of weekend camping with entertainment. Keep us in mind and always plan for the worst.

8 members of our chapter rode from Florida to Arlington straight through. Some stayed at Virginia Suites, most at the Highlander. We had Boozefighters form several states. Socialized Thursday, Friday, Saturday, got a Police escort Sunday to the parade, came back socialized Sunday afternoon, then headed home. The weather held up fine to, during and home. Yes socializing sometimes means drinking. Pictures soon as I get them in.
