It's not very far from here, about 125 miles but the last time we were in Pigeon Forge in September we ate in a nice restaurant and the little wife kept saying how she'd like to go back there and eat again. So we got up on Saturday morning and put on what we could find that would keep us warm for the 21/2 hour ride and started out. It was about 42 or 43 degrees here when we left home and it warmed up to about 65 or so on later in the day. Got there and went to the Harley clothing store and looked around a little stretching our legs then walked across the street to the restaurant , ate a damned nice lunch and walked back the the bike , gassed it up and headed home. We took the camera along but when I started to take a picture the batteries were dead, just my luck. Turned out to be a beautiful day although pretty nippy getting started. The leaves were beginning to turn making it that much nicer. All in all we had a good day. The little blossom was tickled and me I was too. Stafford
Glad you enjoyed your time in Pigeon Forge. I live and work here. I guess you went to the HD clothing store in Waldens Landing. Did they tell you that a whole new HD dealership is going to be built back behind Waldens Landing? Im looking forward to that. The people who own the HD dealership in Maryville are building the new one here.
No they didn't mention that but that'll make trips to PF that much better for us. We always come to the spring and fall grand runs and spend Tuesday thru Sunday and enjoy our stay very much. We hardly ever go there unless there's a show because it's usually so crowded I don't want to deal with all the traffic, but I can handle it a couple times a year no problem. Maybe we'll meet-up there some time. Stafford
was in PF the last of Sept. Stayed at Sunrise Ridge Resort. Spent time in PF, Gatlinburg and Cherokee. 1 day was the casino all day. Had to do the obligatory Wheel Through Time visit in Maggie.
Stafford don't you know you are suppose to check them batteries before you leave. Now you ain't as old as me so get some new batteries and take them pictures. Last time I was in PF was in 81 or 82 I think and it was not on the bike. Pretty area. We will probably be going thru some of that area on our way to Maine sometime next summer. And my son had the ***** to ask me "Dad you think you can make it?"[sm=bicker.gif]
We'll have to get some new batteries for the camera, we love the area and think it's just beautiful there. Not unlike where we live it's just being somewhere else and seeing different places. We usually stay at the valley forge, used to stay with craig latham across the road in the parkview. He sold it out and they built that jurrasic dinasour ride where it used to be. By the way some of you guys in PF may know craig , he and his wife both ride harleys, and are nice folks. Stafford. Oh yeah I'll be 52 in Jan. I'm no spring chicken but I sure as hell ain't ready for geritol yet. Stafford
Was in Gatlinburg late September. We go every year. Rented a Road King Classic from Maryville last year and spent time in the park. Some of the finest riding I've ever done.
Funny I went the other way, I left the Gatlinburg/Pf area sunday morning rode the foothills parkway down aways then over to the Dragon then the skyway and fianlly ended up near Chatanooga about 10Pm. Had a good sandwhich at some lil deli. And just didn't want to quite rideing. So I jumped on I75and headed back north. finally rolled back in the garage about 3:30AM. boy the heated gear got a good try out that night I'll tell ya.
Got up Monday morning and headed out for some miles to the north of us. BEAUTIFUL DAYS and GREAT RIDEING wasn't it boys!!
PS the boys in blue were out all along the Dragon
I love riding in the Pigeon Forge area. There is so much to see. Clingmans dome-tuff walk but worth it. Hwy 441, connecting Cherokee to Galinburg is one of my favorites. Smoky Mt. N.Park. Cades Cove, Dragons Tail, Joyce Kilmers memorial forest, if you like HUGE trees, Cherohala (spelling) skyway and the Blue Rige Pkwy which heads north into more great riding. I would advise everyone to ride and check it out. In my opinion, the fall season is the best time to do it.
