Two years ago we did Key West to Sault Ste. Marie Locks. We had no problems with the bridge. Of course there were no high winds and the weather was great. If you can get her to do it, she'll love it and have "bragging rights" that she crossed the Mackinaw Bridge on a motorcycle. In fact, we are headed up that way in July again and and this time I we want to go to Tahquamenon Fall. Either way, stay safe.

been across that bridge several times in cars trucks and on bikes ...don't look down !!!those steel grates are scary ..at certain speeds they seem to disappear and you seem to be floating on nothing ...if it happens to you change speeds ..also can get really strong gusty cross winds up there ... the bridge authority will transport cars and trucks for you but I don't know about bikes ... there is an office right at the start of the bridge with a sign and turnout area ......

Not an answer - just a suggestion: Just go in through Wisconsin and avoid the bridge.

you will love the falls , there is so much up there to look at , try to get to picture rocks , just try to plan as much time up there as possible we have not set a date for our trip yet but I think she will ride the bridge weather permitting and your right on the bragging rights but have found out the bridge authority will drive it across for us ,free

Before you get to the bridge, you pull over to the Bridge Authority office. If you're coming south from the UP, you just pull over to the right side of the road, before the toll booths, into the parking area. They have a phone that calls the Bridge Authority. We had to do it for my Uncle last year. Funniest thing I ever seen. Guy gets dropped off from the Bridge Authority pickup. The pickup waits for the rider to get in the truck to be transported across the bridge. Uncle starts to give the worker a run down of the bike, but the dude shifts into gear and takes off like a 40-year pro. We just look at each other like what the F was that. Probably a normal reaction when someone jumps on your bike, pops it in gear, and takes off like they own it. Yeah, the worker who drives your bike over the bridge knows what they're doing. They tell you where to meet on the other side. It was quick and painless, and all the people working for the Bridge were nice and professional. Personally, I absolutely love riding over the bridge. Do it probably 6 times a summer. Oh, one more thing, the middle lanes are almost all pavement, while the outside lanes are almost all steel grates.

I know they will drive your car over for you. If the have a trailer they will trailer it, but don't know if the do. My brotherinlaw work on the bridge. I would ride over, park you bike, have them give you a ride back to ride your wife's bike over...she could ride with them in the car...I know they will do that
