Smile Washington/Oregon Coast

Hello all, wifey and I are riding from Kelowna BC to Westport Washington on the 22nd of July, from Westport to Newport on the 23rd, from Newport to Crescent City on the 24th and then working our way back home via the Redwood hwy. Any recommendations for biker friendly lodgings, eats, drinks etc would be great.

I see this is an old thread but perhaps someone is planning a ride along the Oregon coast sometime soon and I wanted to add something. There is a series of historic bridges crossing rivers that empty into the Pacific Ocean all up and down the Oregon coast. For anyone with an interest in bridges, or anyone with a civil engineering or a design background, you might find these bridges quite interesting. Here is a summary of the different bridges.

You might notice almost exactly as you pass the border from Oregon into California the forests change from Douglas Fir to Coastal Redwoods. If you have the time, head a little further south to the Avenue of the Giants, an old growth redwood forest. And if you have even more time, follow Route 1 south as long as your time will allow.

Thanks for the information. I plan on riding up through Colorado, Wyoming, Washington and down the CPH this summer. I would like to see the old redwoods. :-)

We'll likely stay in Eureka a day or two; see the Redwoods in that vicinity; then head back through Klamath Falls, across to Idaho, then back north thru western Montana; maybe the Road to the Sun...
Last year, in 2600 miles, we only rode four-lane to access our rooms in Missoula, Lewiston and Bend. I take pains to avoid urban centres by as wide a margin as I can...hate cities with a passion, especially on a bike
