Just curious on how many older riders there are riding and how long do you plan or hope to be riding for. I'll be 59 this year, 4 years ago I had a wrist injury, not motorcycle related, and couldn't ride for a year, so I realize one injury could stop my riding permanently. I hope to be riding until I can't walk or forgot where I parked the bike.
I am only 43 but I will ride till I cant find the bike.
I have friends in their 80s riding. One of them is in such bad shape he uses a cane and drops the bike a lot. He tells us to pick him up if he tips over. He is really scarey to see on a bike.
Long as your health holds ride on.
If your wrist is messed up on the throttle side try the below it will help.
I got my first motorsickle in 1966, had a few years off, you know kids, kids in college, kids getting married etc. but have been back in the saddle for many years now and don't plan on quitting any time soon. My next birthday will be number 67 and still going strong.
While I'm 12 years younger than you, I figure when I get to that point I will be taking my bike to Lehmans & having it converted to a trike. I waited a long time to get my Harley & I plan on being on it until I can no longer climb on.
I just finished a 3,000 mile road trip with three gentlemen from the ages of 62-65 and they all did just fine... even a couple of 500 plus mile days. As we plan future rides they keep showing interest. They have stated that they would turn to trikes if it can keep them in the saddle another handful of years. Heck, I hope they pull my casket behind a motorcycle!
60 here. I plan to ride until I can't throw my leg over the saddle anymore or feel that it is not safe to myself or others. I just pray I'll have sense enough to know when that day is without my family doing an intervention to wrestle the key fob away from me.
As for me, when I'm done on two wheels I'm done. There is no trike in my future. If I can't lay it over through the twistys, I am not interested.
