It's a great ride on great uncrowded roads. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. We went into Canada at Calais and took 1 up to the TCH. You'll find mostly rinky dink motels along the way. Adequate but not the Hampton Inn. Great riding on the Cabot Trail with only a few tricky curves and switchbacks on the east side as I recall.

two years ago we drove up from the south shore and too the bew brunswick ferry to digby. then cruised up to pei by taking another short ferry - took the bridge back and down through maine. was absolutely amazing. last year we had planned to go back and do cape breton and the cabot trail - but work got in the way.
the most memorable thing for us was the people. they are incredibly biker friendly. some hear the bikes coming down the road and go to the end of the driveway just to wave. you will not be dissapointed. ride safe.
