On my way to Harlingen, TX., and after a hot day in the saddle, I stopped at a Super 8 along I-30 (exit 162A) near Mt. Pleasant, TX. The guy at the 8 recommeded Blalocks. (2310 N. Jefferson St.) in Mt. Pleasant, within walking distance from the 8. This place is family owned and run, they like bikers and the PGR and the best thing is their BBQ pork is great. It's on par with Bubba Q's in Ottumwa, IA. You don't have to go to Kansas City to get good Q.
One more thing: The next days ride Harlingen via. Rt. 19 to Rt. 79 to Rt. 77 was hot, and windy, the hardest part of the 6100 I did, including Death Valley. Also, if you plan to go through Yosemite, be very careful. I will never do that again- too many people driving and running everywhere. Then there are people who rent motorhomes and try to drive them like BMW's.

I agree. I've gone to a couple of places in the Kansas City area, and these have not been the big ones, down in the city (KCMO) but I was NOT impressed. However Blalocks and Bubba Que's were REALLY GOOD, the side orders, that were HOME Made), were good. And you got enough food that was going to be enough for a second meal! And, it was prepared on premis.
