River Road on both sides of the Mississippi River. Start at Veterans Bridge up to St Francisville cross over Audobon Bridge and back down the other side. You will have to get away from the river several times because the road is non existant for several miles in several places.
It will get more open country the farther north you go. Thats why I start around Veterans Bridge because I dont care to ride to the south of that area along the river.
Bite the bullet and head north to Arkansas as quick as you can. Fall color and mountains are a great combination this time of year. While heading through north Louisiana close your eyes and hope you miss it. Louisiana ....Let me say NORTH LOUISIANA sucks for riding. Roads are flat and tore up from the natural gas boom. Nothing to really look at, no bayous up here, lakes are dry from the drought, the casino buffet isn't even worth the 14.95 anymore. Better yet, detour all the way around North Louisiana, then you might actually see something worth while. FT
would love to go towards arkansas and ride in the mountains, i think next year i'm gonna plan a trip to the dragon tale
You wont be disappointed with the Dragon and pretty much any road you are on in that area. Hell even the interstate from Knoxville to Ashville has got some twisties.
As for myself, planning a trip over to the TX hill country then up to Mena, AR to ride some of the Ouachita Mts first of next month.
I found some good roads in north LA just north of Alexandria and south of Monroe, lots of twisties and some good elevation changes. As far as scenery FT was correct, N. LA there's not much, unless you like looking at trees.
