Get yourself a copy of "12 Classic Deals Gap Motorcycle Rides" from http://shop.americaridesmaps.com/12-...ides-NC007.htm
and you will not be disappointed ... it's a fold out map illustrating roads in the area and outlines the average time needed to complete a ride and the distance of the ride. It also combines rides that you might like to take, like the Dragon and the Cherohala. The roads on the map side are color coordinated with the time and description on the back side of the map. It is money well spent!
Iron Horse is great..group of us just did this trip from Texas this past Labor Day weekend. Restaurant with Prime Rib Steak night, bike cleaning station, great fire pit meetings every night after riding, awesome jump off place to The Dragon, Cheroha Skyway...
Really hard to beat!
