Just booked a condo for the week of April 7-14 at Holiday island,AR. It's about 5 miles from Eureka Springs. Can't wait to ride this area! Thanks for all the great info, I'll definitely be using some of these routes and suggestions to plan my rides.
Comment on Noel in SE Missouri: A "Should Do" ride is HWY 59 north out of Noel to Lanagan. Beautiful bluffs with river below. Options- When you turn north off 90 on to 71, stay on 71 to State HWY EE. Take it to Lanagan and 59. Go south to Noel. If you do this be sure to go under the hanging rock, turn east, cross the bridge and go into downtown Noel. My favorite rest stop is at the first convinence store after you cross the bridge. It's on the north side. Just into downtown Noel is a cafe on the north side, too.
Another Option- Stay on HWY 90. Don't go north on 71. You'll enter downtown Noel on 90. Cross the bridge and go north on 59 to Lanagan. On the south edge of Lanagan you'll see the HWY EE sign. Take EE to 71. Go south on 71 to Pineville and State HWY H and take it back to Noel.
Comment on Southwest City: E340 Rd. is a favorite way to get to SW City from my house (near Locust Grove). You'll notice some tornado damage from last year along that county rd.
Comment on Jay and HWY 20: A few miles west of Jay go north on HWY 28 to Disney and ride across the dam to Langley. If you have the time, in Langley ride down below the dam for a close up dam view.
Was there exactly a year ago from when you are going. Rented a nice little cabin on Holiday Island. Great rides . Pig trail(include Oark General store for pie), the trip around Beaver lake, even the ride to Branson was awesome. Had one of the best times with the wife. Nights are a little cool but we had liquid heat with us! Nice walk through town to look at the springs. Not a traffic light to be found in town. You will love it. FT
This is the famous bridge going into the Beaver community, not far from where you will be. You should be able to see it from your condo. As you see we were not able to enjoy the crossing as I did not bring my floaties! Do a couple of passes for me!
This is the The Old Roundhouse Inn across from the old train depot in ES
I believe this is called Magnetic Springs in ES. This one was very cold coming out of the ground and the taste was great. Wish I could get water like that here in Louisiana.
Rockin' Pig Saloon is a must do. great food and cold beer. Band there alot of nights. HD store is next door and open seven days a week.
You can't go this far and not ride the pig trail.
Found this overlook on the way to Oark Cafe from the Pig Trail. The detour from the Pig Trail is well worth it. Beautiful and great pie at the store!
I believe the Pig trail is ranked #10 or 11 on the best 100 motorcycle rides in the country. It is a blast. I was about 3 miles into it going north when I saw 3 black furry things going across the road. I slowed down and saw that they were a sow and her cubs. They went over the ridge and down the hill. I tried to get a picture but they were out of sight in a flash. The curves are very tight and have a pretty steep grade going uphill form the south. Very scenic. I have been on it twice and it wasn't an easier the second time. It isn't the Dragon, but it is still a challenge.
