Do I do it????
The first week in Jan. I am going to a convention in Phoenix, Arizona. I'm trying to decide if I should ride my Street Glide or fly. (Don't really care to fly--- I have control issues!)
I live in Santa Rosa, Ca. and would ride south to Bakersfield (Avg. temp. 56 to 39, avg.1.18" rain), head East to Barstow (avg. temp. 62 to 34, .92" rain), then to Phoenix, = 886 miles one way, and a 2 day trip. I need advice: is it do-able? I have never taken a solo trip in winter. Thanks, Rob

Rob,
Dude go for it!
I did a 3,000 mile round trip in almost the exactly the same weather conditioins on a Softail Standard w/ no windshield.
If you got the right gear and attitudeyou should be good to go!
I'd do it in a heartbeat!
Who dares, wins!

Sound like great riding weather from where I am at ! Michigan! Never know what is next.
I would take that opportunity and run with it. Do it now! Nothing like a long distance solo ride, you will never have abetter time and will always look back at it as a trip to remember.
Great opportunity!

Think of when you return after flying - the mental regret for not doing it.
Think of when you return after riding - the stories to tell your friends, etc and the memories. (memories of a plane ride - hurry up and wait in the lines)

I would do it. The days are short, and it gets darn cold as soon as the sun goes down. Snow at lower elevations isn't uncommon, so be prepared for that.
I can't think of a good reason not to.

You only live once. I f I was afforded that opportunity now, I'd do it. I say go for it...
