Had an old biker tell my wife how to pack for a trip...His advice...

Lay out everything you think you need on the bed...Now Eliminate half of it..you will be all set...

Hey...it worked, all her stuff fit into one saddlebag on that first trip

Seriously, Now on her own bike, She packs a saddlebag liner for her cloths A small bag on top over her tourpak for essentials that she may need to get at quickly (Gal stuff...Meds, makeup, hair dryer..and of course a hat to wear when the helmet is removed.) Tour pack stays mostly empty in order to lock up the helmet when stopped, and other saddlebag holds leathers, and rain suit. For a weekend trip, clothing is what she wears, and one additional pair of jeans, two tops, and undies for each day...thats for a three day trip. Anything longer, we pack for 3-5 days and spend and hour or so at a laundry every 4th day. or as needed.

As far as things we purchase, On longer trips, we will send a package home via mail or UPS to save space.

The list FLHTK gave you is about right. Me, I would scratch the GPS and add an electric vest. I never leave home without one.

Now I don't know how the ladies will feel about this but... Remember when your mother told you to always wear clean underware, in case you are hit by a Mack truck? I like to pack old, worn out, socks and underware and toss them each night. Use tee shirts to wipe off the bugs etc. Saves repacking and leaves room for stuff you buy on the road. With only a five day trip that should be an easy pack.

I take old t shirts, underware, socks that are ready for the trash with me when i go. That way i just throw them away and my bag gets empty the farther i get into the trip.

I have added a small First-Aid kit to what I take, it is like my gun I hope I never need it but if I do I have it.
You never know when a exhaust burn or road trash will fly up and hit you.

Few years of riding wife and I have it figured out. Helps I spent sometime living out of a ruck sack.
here is a little hint.
When you go a trip and must buy stuff. Any US post office has boxes ready to go play it smart you can mail the stuff home in a flash. Every trip we end up mailing stuff back.
last year we left out it was COLD a week latter it was very hot and going to stay that way , we mailed some of the warm stuff home to be rid of it.
getting ready now for a two week ride May 21 going over what we will need on this one.

When my wife went with me, I tried to limit her to six pair of shoes. You might alert your credit or debit card company as to your international travel plans.

When I go to the mountains for a week on my sportster, I have throwover saddlebags and a sissybar bag. I'm very limited on space, so I have to take only essential items. Here it is...

Jacket and chaps and gloves. Might not wear them from Florida to North Carolina, but in the mountains? Heck yeah! It's cold to me in the mountains. At Mt. Mitchell it was 58 degrees in August the last time I went!
Rainsuit. Yes I got rained on, but I was dry!
Jeans, 1 for the ride to and from, 1 for each day up there. In other words, if I leave home on Sunday and get home the following friday it'll be five jeans. The oldest most worn out ones I have, so I can throw them away and get new ones when I get home ( or before I leave home) it gives me room to buy stuff on the trip.
Tshirts, the same as jeans.
Long sleeve shirts, one or two. in case I need a little more warmth.
Socks. One pair for every day, plus one pair. New ones bought a couple of weeks before the trip and worn once or twice before the trip. (comfort)
underwear. one old pair for each day, throwaway at the end of each day.
EXCEPT for the ride to and home...gotta have good undies for the 10 hours (each way) in the saddle!
Smart phone. Gotta have GPS, internet and phone service.
MP3 player for tunes.(don't wanna rundown the battery in the phone!)
charger for both.
credit cards. in case of breakdown or other emergency.
drivers license.....yeah, I know..stupid to put this on the list, but it's in the wallet with the CC's.
Couple of small bottles of favorite alcohol. just in case i end up in a dry county.

Sampl size of Harley gloss...wanna keep the bike looking good plus I like the smell of it, especially on the pipes when they heat up...
Deoderant. I don't think I need to explain.
baby powder, AKA anti monkey butt powder...sprinkle it heavey on the butt and the boys....I've made trips with and without...trust me the trips with were much more comfortable! (I'm on a sporty, remember?)

What I do NOT carry...

Tools. If I didn't think my bike would make the trip, I wouldn't go. besides I have CC's and a phone in case something does happen(roadside assistance thru GEICO). I can buy some cheap tools (walmart)on the road and throw em away if I need to.

extra clothes for partying at night. After a days ride, I shower and put on the clothes I will wear the next day. Who cares if trhey are old clothes...I'm a biker...right?

Lipstick and mascarra. Dude....why would I ...I'm a dude, besides, I don;t think bikers want a chick wearing a 1/4 inch of makeup....at least I don't. I wanna see what I might wake up to....Have you seen Kathy Griffin on stage? Then seen a pic of her at the beach with her family? EGADS!!!!Perfect explanation of a butterface! I don't need to take the chance on a heart attack that early in the morning! Gonig to bed with the neighbor and waking up the same way is better than going to bed with a model, but waking up with the attendant at the trash dump!!!!

New jeans or shirts. Why? I'm not trying to impress anyone.....not applying for a job or meeting the parents of a new girlfriend....I'm a biker, at least for a week...

compression sacks. Why? jeans don't compress. just fold 'em the way they are at the store. it's a small compact package. put them in a plastic grocery bag and it will keep them together as you slide them into the saddlebag.

If I remmeber correctly, you have an Ultra? One of your saddlebags equall both of my bags, and my sissy bar bage is a little less than half of your tourpack. It sounds to me like you have enough room for 2 people...for one week!

Have fun!
