Default Keystone/Dillon, Colorado Area

Planning to visit relatives in Keystone, Colorado over July 4th week.
I have never ridden in this area other than a short hop from Moab UT over to Grand Junction, Co on I70. All my Colorado touring has been in the southwest Durango area.

Looking for input as to riding in the immediate Keystone/Dillon area within a 200~300 mile circumference. Will pretty much make a straight run north from Albuquerque to Keystone and then branch out from Keystone.

Thanks for any input!

Here's a couple of rides for you from Keystone/Dillon. Both are about 230 miles.

1). From Keystone go over Loveland Pass to I-70. Ride east to the Central City Parkway, north on the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway, to Trail Ridge Road over Rocky Mountain National Park, to Granby, through Byers Canyon to Kremmling, south on Colorado 9 back to Dillon/Keystone.

Here's the map... http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Ke...&sz=10&t=m&z=9

2). Ride west on I-70 to Copper Mountain/CO 91, ride over Fremont Pass to Leadville, then south on U.S. 24 for CO 82 over Independence Pass. Continue to I-70. Ride east through Glenwood Canyon on I-70. If you aren't afraid of hard packed dirt, about seven miles of the 23 mile Colorado River Headwaters Scenic Byway is not paved, but any bike can easily handle it. There is a reason it is a scenic Byway. Ride south on riding sweet 131 to Wolcott on I-70. Can continue east over Vail Pass back to Dillon. Or, if up for more, connect with U.S. 24 at the Minturn exit and ride the great Battle Mountain and Tennessee Pass to Leadville, then back over Fremont Pass to Dillon.

Shoot up from Albuquerque through Taos up 285 to Hwy 9 and over Hoosier Pass and through Breckenridge and Frisco and take the Dillon Dam Road over to Dillon and avoid the concrete slab! Also, take Hwy. 9 our of Silverthorne and make your way towards Steamboat springs over Rabbitears Pass. I lived in Dillon for ten years and you will find great riding anywhere you go. Be aware that the thunder boomers can show up in the afternoon and at elevation they are upon you before you know it.

Enjoy your trip!

Yup, don't miss the Fiesta Jalisco in Dillon. Best Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten in. Ask for the "Hoof" after your meal(it's usually complimentary). It's great tequila.
The above posted routes are not to be missed. Great rides.
