The wife and I are starting a cross country trip next week. We will be going thru OK from South Fork CO on our way to Memphis TN. Is there ANYTHING to see in OK, besides the Fed Building. I was going to just super slap it because I can't find any way thru OK that's worth changing my plans. I'm only giving myself 2 day to get to Memphis. ...Any Ideas?
sparks motorcycle rally all this week through the weekend....seba motorcycle museum on route 66 and rock cafe in chandler not far from the museum and on the way to sparks ok.
Words from the John Fullbright song All The Time In The World:
"Central Oklahoma it's my land it's my country
Eastern Oklahoma is a beautiful sight
Northern Oklahoma, might as well be in Kansas
Never go to Southern Oklahoma at night"
Lyrics pretty well cover it. Hot foot it however you can to get to Northeastern Oklahoma and then enjoy the scenery after cutting south. Pick a spot and head East into Arkansas then angle down toward I-40.
I punched in the recommended route on map quest. If you come through Clayton, NM pay attention to speed limit as the limit changes dramatically. From Amarillo to Memphis you can set your cruise on 85 and only stop for food. There really isn't anything to see along I-40. Traffic through OKC just sucks most of the time.
Actually OK has some very nice riding through the SE part of the state with roads leading in to some nice stuff in AR and on to Memphis. But if you're only allowing 2 days to get to Memphis you don't have any time for that and you may as well just slab it on I40. Unfortunately I40 is probably the most miserable interstate for biking east of the Mississippi.
