Default DAYTONA

I've gotten tired of Bike Week in Daytona. After you've been a few times, it's the same old. Anyone see that NASCAR thread before it was deleted? I pulled up their site at thundertrackrally.com and it looks an awesome time!Anyone care to join me?

Too spread out and pretty much the same at each place.........Bar, band , vendors selling biker garb, tattoos....Just riding back and forth to bars and vendors hoping you do not get pulled over or, hit by a cage....Main street is nothing you cannot find in most collage towns bar strip..The only thing good about it is the time of year....a place and reason to take off from winter and get on the bike.

Been to Daytona for Biketoberfest back in 1998... Am going to Florida during bike week this March. Mainly to ride. Figure a day or so at Daytona will be it, then just sight seeing on the bike. Any recommended paths or places to take off to in Florida? Suggestions? Thanks. With indiana being in the 20's today, I am just wanting to ride, and florida sounded like a good excuse!

ride through the Ocala national forrest, take a ride down to Key West, ride up and down A1A, Ride out to Cape Canaveral and see Space Port USA, etc

When I go to Daytona I am not much on bar hopping so I like the bike shows, and spending time at the track playing around with new bikes and seeing some of the custom builders out there. Sometimes we just hang at the hotel and do anything we feel like. It's a chance to get away from work and wives for a few days.

I'd recommend that you go into town for one day. Park at the Methodist church, they're a block south of Main St. Good people, I'd rather give them the $$$ anyway. Walk up and down Main St....Dodging the people pushing strollerswho absolutely felt it was a necessity to bring their kids to what used to be an adults onlyparty. Not bashing parenthood...I've got two kids, but I wouldn't have considered taking them in to Daytona (or Sturgis) during an event. I've been to Bikeweek in 93, 94, 01, 03, 04. I've watched the metamorphisis over the years....Didn't turn into a pretty butterfly, IMHO.

Get your HOG pin, pick up a patch on Main. Shell out the big bucks for a can of Bud....Then get the hell outta town. It's way too crowded, way to 'over enforced', and way to pricey. Head back to Orlando or Tampa. Or get on your horse and ride to the Keys....You'll probably need to find some warm weather anyway.

I'm not saying I'll never do another Bikeweek, but I'm not gonna pay the big bucks that everyone wants. I'lldo like I recommended...Then split.

Went to Bike Week last year... had a blast. It's one of those things that I'm glad I did, but can't justify a whole week doing it again. The buddy I rode down with last year is there now... and he emailed me some pics last night. I posted them on Strange-Trip in the Bike Trip Pics section. Ride Safe - J

Not that I'm a great source of information on specific bike destinations but I love Daytona. If you like to do some people watching while everyone else is freezing this is a great place to be. Never been disapointed. You just need to learn the easy way of getting arrond the different hot places. Been doing Daytona either in the spring or fall for over 10 years. This is a great place to enjoy an eary spring or late fall.
