I Need some advise on Colorado weather forecasts and storms....
My girl and I have been planning a week long motorcycle camping trip through Colorado for months, and are supposed to leave Texas this Friday Morning. Headed to Trinidad, Cripple Creek, Montrose, Durango, Creede, and everywhere in between...
Weather reports show 30% chance of rain and scattered thunderstorms across most of the state the entire time we are to be there. In Texas, that means nothing and would not deter our trip, but I don't know Colorado weather.
Shoud we go anyway and still expect a good time, or stay south and maybe go to Vegas?
Need some advise on Colorado weather forecasts and storms....
Typically this time of year an afternoon shower is not uncommon. Nothing to stop you from riding and its later in the afternoon anyways usually for a few hours only. 30%means it probably wont rain but like all good weathermen they hedge their bets... come and enjoy our state!
Colorado is a beautiful state from desert area in the south to the mountains as you go farther north.
No way would I change my plans to go to Las Vegas.
Even if you get a bit wet, it will make for good stories later on.
We've been there several times and thoroughly enjoyed all of it.
Go! Actually, the monsoons are letting up a bit (the forecasts have been 40%-70% for the past several weeks and we were getting daily rains).
Yesterday I travelled from Lake City to Creede to South Fork to Pagosa to Durango to Silverton and finally to Ouray. Only sprinkles on Wolf Creek and a very brief (welcome) shower over hot Durango.
Yeah, go and have fun, that is all great riding. The afternoon is when you are likely see rain, and at higher elevations in the afternoon. The old "storm across the mountain" thing even then they don't last long. Just take good rain gear.
