For the last 4 years, I've taken off the day after Labor Day on a 10-14 day, 4 to 5K trip. I map out a general route averaging 400 miles a day with some key destinations in mind. This year I want to make sure I get to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. When planning my route, I take a map and look for all the scenic highways and try to avoid freeways whenever possible. I've attached a link to the mapquest routes I put together http://mapq.st/ONtJ6B If you click on the link, you will see little squares with bubbles in them. Each of these squares represent my tentative ride plan for a particular day.
The purpose of this post is to ask that if I'm in an area you are familiar with and you can recommend any route modifications to ensure Im riding the best roads in the area, I would appreciate it. Im especially interested in the route I have planned from Ticaboo, UT to Torrey, UT. My Utah map shows a section of the road as unpaved. Does anyone know if it is still passable on my Dyna.
Thanks for the great suggestion. I visited the Grand Canyon two years ago during my annual ride but only the South side. I'm rerouting this trip from Torrey, through Bryce Canyon and then to the North Rim. I'll then go from the North Rim (or wherever I end of finding a room) back through Zion and then on to Vegas. Thanks again.
