RidingTogether.com
Seriously, thank you. I've been using this forum as my proving grounds for getting my site up and running. All of your continued use of the site will allow it grow and hopefully become a useful resource.
Great job PC - I will try to add some planned rides, upcoming events and stories over the weekend.
I just joined and it is a very cool idea. The website is pretty easy to navigate. I do have a couple of things. 1) I just created a ride to see how to do it and what it would look like and I can not find a way to delete/cancel it. 2) I dont know if there is a way to add this feature but alot of times here in East TN I would like create a ride but do not have an address like if I ride in the national park or one of the national forest around here so is there anyway to have the map on there when creating the ride so you can see the route as you are entering waypoints and you can click and drag your route if you choose to. That would also allow you to avoid interstates if you want to and give you a chance to preview your route prior to creating the ride.
Just some thoughts and not trying to bitch because I cannot do what you are doing.

I do this for a living, so this is a little hobby of mine to supplement my free time in the evenings. I figured it would be helpful to all the riders out there and fun in the process. I've been a professional software developer for over 15 years. I specialize primarily in Windows applcations; however I've been recently delving into more of the web side of development. It seems to be more fun, and as his is MY project and not my employer's, I have the freedom to set my own schedule, features, etc.
However, I do keep all the suggestions I get from users in mind as I make changes. I hope you'll give it a fighting chance.

2. I'll look into adding a map on the "plan a ride" page. You're right though, that not having an actual address is hard. That's basically why I came up with the idea of the "default waypoint". Just pick a location where you feel comfortable meeting other people to ride. It doesn't force you to provide your real address. The click/drag concept might take some time. But, enough people are committed to using the website and joining, I'm up to the challenge.
3. I recently added the ability to indicate your age, whether you are a driver or passenger, and profile pictures. After adding the profile pics, it really brings the site to life on searches of rides and members.
4. I also added the ability to click a "Join Ride" link next to any ride that has been created. This will indicate that you intend to be an attendee on the ride. I still leave it up to the members to contact one another to finalize the finer details. But, at least this get the process started and should help get people together to share in some riding experiences.
Thanks for giving it a try. I appreciate all the feedback everyone has given me so far.
Chris
