Default Cross country ride

I am planning a ride from Oregon to the east coast and back. I would love any advice, reading material, or resources that will help in my trip planning.

Gps drink holder maps for the roads the gps won't show rain suit sunglasses that fit inside helmet sunblock enough clothes for three or four days if riding by your self you could get a whole week in your tour bags cell phone extra shoes to wear when not on bike or just in case yours get wet maybe cleaning rags to clean bugs off windshield if your bike has one a gun and if you have one a ccw license won't be good in all states but will be in most tool kit snap-on makes a very good one that looks like a pistol case cash because not every place takes credit cards hard to believe but in some small town you might run into that well that is all I can think of right now most of this stuff I took when I went on my long ride to Yellowstone national park from Arizona and also when I went to Oklahoma

Head south and don't go past Florida? Oh, and don't head home until May.

touring manual with list of all harley dealers, insurance info. including number to call for towing service(gotta have towing coverage),and a cell phone. the weather channel can be your friend. don't set unrealistic mileages per day. enjoy the ride and stop and smell the flowers...you might never get back down that same road again.

AAA membership. Make sure you get the RV PLUS, its what you need for Motorcycles. Search the threads on here for what to carry with you emergency gear wise, there are a couple of good threads. Outside of that I always take a truckers road atlas like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Rand-Mc...item416832b0e6, if I don't pre plan a run. If I know exactly where I am going and when I want to be there, I plan it all out before I leave and right it all down. Most of the time when I do cross country trips I like to just wander aimlessly so I just throw the whole atlas in my bag somewhere and go day by day.

If your not in a rush stay off the interstates, its a lot more fun.

No help here but good luck on your trip, I plan on doing the same in June just from the East coast to Oregon and back. Looking forward to hearing how the trip went when you get back if its before June!

I plan on leaving mid June. I have 3 weeks or so. Plan on my wife flying to the east coast and touring with me 5-6 days. Love history, nature, and people!
