Great advice. Did this ride earlier this year and it's some of the best riding in AZ.

191 is the old Devils Highway it use to be Highway 666 but they changed the numbers.
Also known as the Coronado Trail number 20 on the top 100 motorcycle roads web site.

Very scenic, but don't be careless, it is a ride for experienced riders.

jmorgan, I also though about southern Utah. Did Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon last year. I wanted to go from Bryce to Grand Staircase but wasn't sure of the road condition. Is it doable on a touring bike?
11 bikes from an annual HD Forums ride did all of this last year. There is no problem with the road from Bryce to Grand Escalante. 2 lane black top with no dirt of gravel. A little narrow in places, but no problem.

For my money, 191 is the best ride in AZ.

Another really nice southern Utah ride is Hwy 14 from Cedar City E to US-89. You go over a 10,000' summit and Cedar Breaks Nat'l Monument is right there. It's a real nice ride with lots of trees, alpine meadows, and Navajo Lake is beautiful.

I wanted to ride it this year, but the road was closed due to a landslide.

OK, I think I have a trip outline. Ventura, Prescott, Jerome, Rt191, Petrified Forest/Painted Desert, Canyon De Chelly, Antelope Canyon, Grand Canyon, Laughlin. Will spend 10 or 11 days getting to Laughlin and will stop and camp where something looks good or we get tired of riding for the day.

That's going to keep you busy for awhile. Have a safe ride.

Oatman is a cool little town, and the ride out there on the 66 is good. I make it out there all the time when I am in AZ.

+1 on that, plus you can get to Grand Staircase and Bryce by going south from the junction of 14 and 89. 89 north from that junction in Utah is equally as nice for curves, all the way up to I-70. Not much along 89 south from Page to Flagstaff, pretty straight and 2 lane part way with a lot of accidents, but unfortunately, the only way to get back down into Arizona without taking your chances on the reservation roads, also lots of accidents and 2 lanes. And then, you have to go over to monument valley to get back down into AZ. Did 191 part way a few years ago. White Mtns worth seeing, as also the US60 from Show Low thru the Salt River Canyon. Heber, Overgaard, Pinetop, All of the mogollon rim along 264 is nice, then through Payson, too many roads to pick from. I'll have to do Coronado trail myself in the spring.
