Texas Based Extreme Distance / IBA Rides & BBQ Tour
Hey guys,
BikerMonkey has put out the 2013 Extreme Distance / IBA rides and is also doing a 7 month long Texas BBQ Tour as well. Over 50% of the proceeds goes to non-profit organizations, so it is a good cause.
The Texas BBQ Tour is a point system tour over a 7 month span. Essentially, you register, then hit as many BBQ places in Texas; submit a receipt, photo of your bike in front of the BBQ restaurant sign and a confirmation sheet. The person with the most points gets bragging rights and first choice of the prizes. Each point a person receives goes into the drawing pool and the person drawn can choose from the prizes, until they are all gone. More points = better chances of getting a prize. Check out the link for the Registration Form and Rules. Proceeds go to America's Might Warrior, great non-profit group helping support families of fallen heroes.
It all sounds really good, but Texas is a long ways from Alberta. Looking at the map... it's 3000km (2000 mi). It's a good iron butt ride just to get there.
Hard to say about how many places you need to hit to win a prize. Depends how many people enter the tour and how many places collectively are visited. Let's say there are 500 places visited of which you made up 50, you have 10% of the total pool from the drawing.
would cooper's b-b-q in llano, new braunfels, and ft. worth count as 3 seperate stops? how are you going to handle big chains like bill millers--got to be 3 dozen or so of them in and around san antonio. the locals in that area would have a big leg up on the rest of us.
