Default Kentucky bound

Finally here, leaving this morning for a weeks ride. Seems like it would never get here and I guess it will be over all too soon. Will be staying in the Lexington area, we plan on taking in a couple Bourbon tours and plenty R&R ridin and relaxing. Anything we should try or good roads as we really don't have set plan yet. Looking forward to the ride never been down that way yet.

If you're into that sort of thing, definitely check out Miguel's. World renowned pizza right down the road from Slade, just ask any of the locals for directions. No beer but always worth the very short hop off the parkway: http://www.miguelspizza.com/

A favorite ride of mine (to the northwest) would be to head north on I-75 to the Verona area and work my over to Hwy 42 heading west, which mostly follows the Ohio River on the KY side. Takes you through the town of Carrollton (right on the river, places to eat, etc...) and on downriver, you can cross the bridge to Madison, Indiana. All kinds of stuff to do and see in Madison. From there, you can either follow the back roads through Indiana to pick up I-65 and drop back into Kentucky at Louisville, or just head south to pick up I-64 near Shelbyville. Here's some pics of the area:

The Cumberland Gap Nat. Park, where Ken, Va and Tenn meet is well worth the ride. Fantastic views and great riding...

Buffalo Trace is a must, Big Bone Lick State Park and head little further north to Rabbit Hash General Store.

Just got back this afternoon, great riding down that way. Thanks to those who gave me some ideas. We did make it to a couple bourbon distillerys, checked out Fort Boonesboro, the natural bridge, the red river gorge and some great scenery. Plus I managed to spend some time at man of war harley with an ABS problem. Those guys over there are ok we rode in around 9:30 am and in less than 2 hours they had the problem fixed and we were out the door. Spent one day just riding with no plan or direction and that was probably the most relaxed day we had. Worst part, it's over and back to work.
