for the past few years we have been taking an trip to the south land every year . usually ending with a crawl down bourbon street. ( not a bad way to end a vacation, how ever the ride home is a little over 500miles on a hangover.) the past couple of years we have went early and it was may and june.( hot.)
our plan this year is a discovery channel trip.( in sept.)
first stop is west Monroe la. (duck dynasty store) then to the myrtles plantation for the night. (top ten most haunted hotels)
next to baton rouge la ( red jacket fire arms) then on to new Orleans.
I want to go to venice la. this is as far south as you can go . the road turns around. get some real fresh seafood.( try to find some swamp people)
then on to the Mississippi hog rally .10 days on the road .no phones , text or b.s. Im ready to go !
I would skip Venice. Not much down there at all since Katrina. From Baton Rouge it would be a nice ride to cross over the Mississippi River, take the levee road. Visit a Plantation or two then head to Houma. Plenty real Swamp people down there. Eat at Big Al's Seafood. He is goods friends with RJ from the Swamp People show. I'll be on the Coast for the rally. I live just North of New Orleans. If you need someone to show you some dive bars and good eats places I'm your guy.
I would say go to Venice, LA just LA23 is a mother ffer to ride. At least it was the last time I attempted to go down there. But I think they are repaving it so it may be finished by sept.
